Help White APP screen

First off thank you to everyone in advance.

Just today my phone started showing the App (Show all apps) screen background turned all white and the icon for it has turned inverted in its colouring. Background on the 'Google' page appears to be monocolour almost.

Happened during use, I have tried powering on and off the device to no avail. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I noticed this on my N5 today too.

The app drawer and folders now have a white background, the app drawer button is the Lollipop version, and the closed folder icons are stacked on top of each other in a vertical line instead of diagonal.

My phone is still on 4.4.4 and the Google Now Launcher hasn't been updated since August 2014.

I wonder if this is something they've been able to do via Google Play Services. The Google app updated today, but I didn't see these changes apply immediately after it had installed.

I don't know whether I am relieved or annoyed. I am happy its not just my phone dying (which I thought it was) but im annoyed that I cannot revert it back to what it used to be like without rolling back updates.

I've finally gone back to Apex. I can't take all that white!
