Do these adapters really work? I've bought one and the Note 10.1 doesn't recognise it. Tried various USB sticks of various capacities but none seem to work. Here

A working one would be really handy so if someone knows of a make that does work can they share it?

Thanks

The one I have works. It's also a third party cable. Try connecting the thumb drive to the adapter first then connect to the tablet. For some reason it had issues if you connect the device after the adapter is already attached.

Still doesn't work. :( The odd thing is the adapter worked fine on my [old] Galaxy Tab 10.1 running on ICS but for some reason it doesn't work on my Galaxy Note 10.1. running on JB 4.1.2

What version of Android are you both using?

Thanks

4.1.2

Have uou made sure that the adapter's switch is on Charge instead of Data?

I have 2 adapters. One like the one shown shown above and another that looks like this

And neither of them work. The black one did work perfectly on my old Galaxy Tab 10.1 running on ICS

I have the official USB OTG from Samsung and it works. Also updated to 4.1.2 JB. There are times where it stops working for some strange reason and requires a reboot to get it working again.

I have a third party one that works on mine but only on a usb stick with less than 8gb capacity. What's the max capacity the Samsung one will take?

Mwahahahahaha,

This white thing is not for OTG!!!!! It is for charging only and only works for that!!!

I somehow missed the fact that the OP wanted to use sticks with it.

In the description of the white one it says "Data sync and charging support"

I can get the black adapter to work if I reboot the Note 10.1 whilst the adapter is connected to the Tablet, but this only happens just the once. If I want to use another USA stick I have to reboot again.

Data sync means you can connect it to a PC to copy files from to to Note. That is it.

Buy the official Samsung USB accessory kit and you will have a USB connection and an SD card reader.

I think it's more which USB it uses and power draw from it.. If it's a USB 3.0 stick, it requires a little more power than what the Note 10.1 can provide. I can use a USB 2.0 16GB on mine without any issues.

Can also attach a 500GB external HDD using an external battery to power it. No issues with that also.

Could you expand on that please?

thanks

Opposite of what you are trying to do.

You have two USB modes:

One you connect a USB drive to the Note and copy from one to another.
Second, you connect the Note to your PC and copy files between the two.

I have one of these. Not tried a USB stick yet, I should. Doesn't work with my card reader but does work with my mouse.
