Whitney Houston Dead

Yes, she was a relative of great singer and yes she had an amazing voice. I was in my late teens when she was at her peak. Even though I don't like her music, I'm not deaf, she could sing ;-)

However, why would anyone want a druggie as a role model. She had all the power and money to help herself. She obviosly didn't want to help herself. I shed no tears.

yeah it'sa nice station Rico!! Looks like they're done for now (15 minutes of Whitney remix and followed by lots of commercials). Anyways we can try again at the top of the hour (i first heard the remix at 12 noon, then a few minutes ago at 5 pm... maybe they might play it every hour on the hour:))
(They have an android app on the Market too.)

edit: Looks like they're not playing it on the top of this hour (they're having a top-10 or something countdown program(?))

There are a few kind requests in here by participants to please keep things in tribute to the artist who passed away, rather than debate this or that peripheral issue. It's hard to just stay strictly on topic, and topic drift can be fun, etc, but when there's a request by members/the OP, etc, it seems crass to just carry on with the drift.

Please stop. :)

thanks! 100% agreed! let's please try to focus on whitney and how great she was/still is. of course, whitney's music/life don't exist in a vacuum, so caparisons to contemporaries and their music make perfect sense, as frisco points out.

It's hard.. the topic drift thing is very natural, conversationally in rl as well as in forum threads. Sometimes it's very annoying to an OP who has a purpose in beginning a thread, though. And when it's a thread on the death of a beloved by many person, well.. that's a good time for us all to try to hang in there with what the OP wants. :)

As Frisco has asked, let's keep this threat strictly to tribute and remembrance of a recently passed artist. If you want to discuss the circumstances of her tragic death or her unfortunate decline, another thread should be started. I have removed the posts that were too far afield. No animosity to those who posted, but this type of thread is a special case.

Thank you all for your cooperation and understanding. :D

Fantastic. Thanks. Let us all celebrate her life instead of mocking it.

How many times are you going to be wrong? Mariah does not put Whitney to shame....Mariah can screech high octaves, but Whitney can actually sing.

JW, not only could Whitney sing!...

LOL, one of the speakers at Whitney Houston's funeral made that same stement Saturday: " she didnt just 'sing' .... The woman could 'S A N G'!

For those who watched the funeral, wasnt it well dignified and had the star-studded, VIP stature that she deserved and at the same ti me, the service held on to the back-home girl who never forgot where she was from?

Sad as it is to lose her in death, it was a good day to see so many praise her and share such from many other areas of her life.

The lady, her beauty and voice will be missed in the days to come....

I didn't watch the funeral, but I take it the whole Bobby Brown scene didn't take away from the funeral? I heard he tried to seat his entire entourage together up close, and was eventually asked to leave. Typical behavior of an egomaniac I guess.
