I never had that problem with the stock 2GB, upgraded to 8GB and didn’t have it there either. Only SD quirk I’ve had is having to restart Launcher Pro to get SD app icons to show up correctly. And now that I’ve said that...

This happened to me today, with my Nexus S (that hasn't an SD card, it's only the internal memory with 2 partitions) -- so the problem is not caused by SD card.
I guess it's a problem with mounting SD card: it happened to me after unmounting from my PC.

How can I fix it? 80% of my apps are gone...

My wife has a LG P500H phone and it stopped reading the sd card and said to remount a sd card. And it wouldn't let me.

fiddle far*** around with the thing on and off for a couple of days, still waiting for response from LG.

BUT, I came across something maybe others should check. The sd card is held in place by a small metal plate on my wife's phone. What I discovered was that this plate has to be locked down to make the phone read the card.

To lock down the metal plate I pushed it against the sd card and slid the plate down gently. It locked into place and the phone read the card almost instantly.

Don't know if this will help anyone else but that is all it took for the card to be read.

MY wife has an OPtimus S and all of a sudden, about a week ago, the card just unmounts all by itself. I drag down the bar and it says it can be removed.

I manually choose to mount it and it seems fine for a while. No idea what the heck is causing it.

I was just about to do the whole format thing on the PC when it occurred to me that it may just be a en error. So I ran the error checker instead and viola , it did the job. Didn't need to format the card and everything was back to normal and faster.
How do you do a errror check?
