Who Has Had The Best Luck Getting Their Phone Switched Out?

OK, so here is the deal everyone. It gets a little long BUT it's worth the read if you can help me. So I started off with Verizon on my own last year by getting the Bionic for free. I love that phone and wanted it very much so I was excited. Anyways, had the phone for awhile and half way thru owning it I started having serious signal issues and I live in a Verizon RICH signal area. So I got swapped to another one. Cool! So after another 6 months I started having random resets and just loosing signal all the time in areas that I should never see that happening. So I got the option to switch between the LG Intuition, Razr M, or another phone similar to the Intuition.

I took the M, and after having it for only the weekend due to the shipping on it I called and asked to have it swapped. I'm being real here when I say I'm 6'3" and have big hands. That phone was like a kids toy in my hands and I couldn't use it hardly at all because of that. So they gave me the Razr Maxx. They wouldn't give me the Maxx to begin with because it was a 100 dollar price difference but the M was only 50 bucks difference and they could justify it. They also justified the switch from the M to the Maxx because it too was only a 50 dollar increase.

So now here I sit with my second Maxx that I've only had since last Wednesday waiting for my THIRD to come to me in the mail tomorrow. Now I spoke online with Verizon and asked if I could just be jumped to the Maxx HD and skip the 3rd replacement but I was told no because my reason for the swap was because my earpiece speaker was bad. If it were anything else and there had been trouble shooting done then I could probably go to the HD.

My question is this, has anyone had any better luck switching from a phone they keep having problems with to a phone with less or no problems at all? If so how was it done and what steps can I take to ensure that I get switched? I love love love my Maxx, but the lack of support for it from Verizon as well as the lack of accessories is really annoying. I had no clue when they switched me at the time that they were killing the phone off to focus on the HD. None of the stuff for the HD works with the plain Maxx. I don't even WANT the phone to be HD but if it's got support then I'll do go for it. Thanks again everyone!!

Verizon keeps a record of the phones that you've had, especially when it deals with problems concerning reception and coverage. I'm speculating that since you've jumped around several different phones, they could have a record of phone ownership history and decided that you're only eligible for refurbished phones. Again, this is only a theory, I could be wrong.

What do you mean by no accessories? I know that the older a phone gets, it gets harder to find the accessories from Verizon. What accessories are you looking for? I just jumped from the Maxx to the s4 and I have several different accessories that I need to get rid of. Drop me a PM if you're interested. Also a quick google search could findyou the accessories that you're looking for...

I get the reception issues with the phones and keeping track of those. But I got the M and thought it would be bigger but it's tiny in my hands otherwise I would have kept it. I liked it other than the size, and that I couldn't get past. Anyways, I had issues with the Maxx bogging down after the Jelly Bean update and 3 FDR's along with a wipe of my SD card. Once I did all of that they sent me my current one. But doing all of that was over the course of 3 months or more. The earpiece I get, it can happen to any phone. I just HATE setting up my phone all over again after spending almost a day and half getting it back to the way I had my original one.

OK, now I'm pissed off. I got my 3rd replacement yesterday and today as I go to set it up and find out that it's pretty much DOA. I seriously had better get switched over to the MAXX HD or just something totally different.

Sorry to hear about your phone troubles. :p I've had issues with CLN devices on Verizon as well, and while whey swap them out quickly, is still frustrating. Hopefully now you get your new device.

I appreciate that, and I hope in the long run they will do what I'm asking but as of right now they are telling me that the only option available to do is to keep sending me the same replacement phone. I refuse to take another MAxx unless it's the Maxx HD. It's not an unreasonable request.

I had an old Bionic swapped for a Rezound then a Galaxy Nexus pretty painlessly. A quick call each time. I don't think I did anything special or push the envelope to get it done either. I just complained of the problems I had and they said they would take care of it.

Yeah but how long ago was that? I'm being told over and over again that the makers of each phone is now backing their product 100% and that's why I'm having issues get swapped.

Must have been 1.5 years ago or so. The Bionic truly had a ton of problems. If you go to the Bionic forums you will see massive complaints of reception and data drops. I just told them it was basically an unusable phone for me and I might as well cancel my service.

My MAXX just about became unusable about 20 minutes ago. I was trying to get into my text app and it was taking forever. To the point that it said to force close it so I did. I did it 3 times. Then the screen went dark and the only way to get it back on was to hold the volume down and power button. I'm about to go get on the phone with them and yell and ask for customer retention. If they can't go anything then I hate to say it but I might be done.

So, I have been thru 3 Maxx's. I refuse to have them give me another Maxx and that's the only option they will give me. I won't take another one, and honestly I asked to talk to retention as a method to get a reaction and I got nothing other than please don't leave us but we aren't going to change your phone. I talked to the Boss of the Tech 2 support's Boss and while he understood and wanted to help he was hesitant because he didn't want me to just keep getting in and out of phones. I assure all of you and I tried to assure this guy at Verizon on the phone. I just want a reliable phone. To me the Maxx isn't it anymore. Give me the Maxx HD and I'll shut up until January when I can upgrade for real. Not really any other phone out there that I would move to other than the DNA but I don't see that happening from the Maxx.

I've been very lucky. My GNex is a good one. Worked perfectly right out of the box and hasn't been any trouble.

My daughter is getting on the merry-go-round now with her iPhone. She took it in to swap it when the wi-fi died. They gave her one with terrible call volume. I realize most teens use their phones to text and check Facebook/Twitter, but she does need to be able to make a call on occasion. It is, after all, a phone.

Well this thread aint a full month old yet, so I hope bumping it is O.K. I'm in the same boat as you Coyote. Bought my M 3-4 months ago. First time it turned itself off it was after its first full charge. I thought no biggy, maybe I did something wrong and went about my day. Well 7-10 days later it did it again (turned itself off) while it was in my holster at work. This time I called it in and they said if it does it again send it in. I agreed. Third time and I'm calling Verizon and it's then that I learn "new" is refurbished. My bad. So I dont get it replaced and waited. 4th time is the charm, call V and get refurbished heading this way. It arrives and will not work, period!!! Now I was told these phones are put through a 130 point process before they send them out. Well now, all with in a 2 week span, I've had 3 m's and 2 maxx's. And tomorrow I'll recieve my forth refurbished M. The main reason I went with Moto was because of it's better ability to reach cell towers for phone calls. It's not been a good experience, I expected better with a company that is the leader in Cell Phone Industries. I'm refering to both Moto and Verizon.

One thing for sure, as many "refurbished" phones V sends me, if they don't work, I'm sending them back until I'm satisfied.

That's the way to go about it.

Also, just to mention that refurbs aren't broken phones that got fixed so much as returned phones through their buy back program. In either case, they get inspected and tested pretty well.

Sometimes it works out great (I got a refurbed Tab 7" before my Tab 2), other times you have to keep going until you hit a good one.

Frisco, well I've got my refurb today, my mistake on delivery day, and so far so good. And like you say I truly hope this one works out. If any more problems arise I'll post up. If not, then I'll be a happy camper.

I hope this last phone is working well for you.
I have had a few refurbs mailed to me, and all were in "like new" condition and worked quite well.:)
