If the available GS-5s only have 16 GB rather than 32 GB and if cannot move apps to SD card and if the new HTC ONE 2 has 32 GB in the "base model" the decision process becomes more of a challenge and interesting!

Reading all these threads, I have heard little from S2 owners - maybe they thought, like me that a ground-breaking phone could not be bettered? Certainly I believe that has been true as the S3 or S4 have not tempted me at all.

But I collect 2 S5's next Friday from Carphonewarehouse here in the UK, one for me and one for the Mrs for a cheaper monthly and better rental agreement. With good bargaining I got them for no cash up front too! So it was either a case of staying with my current agreement or cancelling it and move to a pay as you go sim. The latter was really tempting but the cheaper monthly deal on the S5's clinched it.

I bet though I won't see another ground-breaking phone like the S2. That has to be the best phone, at the time, that the world ever saw. I have a lot of affection for it.

What do other S2 owners think?

Nope, more likely to get an Xperia Z2 than a Galaxy S5.

It's a little larger but you get more screen, stereo speakers and metal/glass body for those who don't like plastic.

I have the Galaxy Nexus - the original one. I am overdue for an upgrade. Not to turn this into a social debate, but I think there's a huge problem with consumerism in this country. I never saw the need/point to go out and get a new phone because it's the newest, glitsiest phone every time one came out. I have been perfectly happy with my Nexus all these years as it has never failed me. When I was due for an upgrade I had the option of a S3 or S4 (and some other non-Samsung ones, but since the Nexus was so steadfast both in structure internally and externally, I wanted to stick with Samsung) but neither of them seemed to me like that much of an upgrade from the Nexus. Plus I did some research and figured Verizon would be releasing something exciting within 6mths of my upgrade. Since I am not in it for the OOO MUST HAVE MY NEW PHONE I figured I could wait. So I did.

SO YES I am getting the S5. It is enough of an upgrade - in specs, looks, and all that that I can comfortably retire the Galaxy Nexus. It has served me well. And I am looking forward to the S5.

I'm going to plan to hold off until they either fully confirm or fully deny there is a "prime" version.

If this rumoured version does exist and it has a bigger screen, bigger battery, and faster processor, then the S5 prime will be my choice.

I'm taking a patient pass on the S5, and will wait to see what might materialize in the next couple months.

I doubt it will make an appearance, in the couple of months the hype will be building for the Note 4.

Anything is possible with Samsung though.

Oh great, Shocky, next thing you're going to do is tell me there's no such thing as Santa Clause... There is isn't there?

I plan to get the S5, but I'll ride out my grandfathered $30 per month unlimited talk and text plan until the bitter end which will probably late this year or early next year since metroPCS merged with T-Mobile.

Looks like a downgrade from my Note 3. I'm looking for more ram, not less.

What would you do do max out the 2gb Ram? Up to this point when checking my task manager, I've never seen my phone close to using the 1.5 gb on my S3. Just curious.

I am and it's going to be in my hands tomorrow. I'm currently using the galaxy mega 6.3 and the gs5 will be a big improvement for me. Can't wait!

I'll be eligible for an upgrade in June. Sticking with my Nexus 5 until the next version hits. If by any chance I would renew my at&t contract I'll pick up the M8 over the SG5

This was an easy choice for me. I have the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. I enjoyed that phone quite a bit but it's starting to have some issues. While the S5 isn't a huge upgrade for S4 owners...it's a major upgrade over the Nexus. I pre-ordered mine and the manager of the store I went to allowed me to keep my unlimited data plan. I got the best of both worlds.

That's the upgrade I'm making too! From the Galaxy Nexus. Mine has also served me very well - very few bugs, very sturdy - but like you - lately I have been noticing some bugs. I think that the apps and things have all been updating so much and the phone finally just can't keep up. I didn't want to update to the S4 because I didn't feel like it was much of an upgrade but I am super excited for the S5 - as I feel like it has a whole lot more to offer than the S5. I have lots of friends and family with the S4 and I would play with it and I didn't feel like it was that much more exciting than my Nexus. But this S5? woo hoo! Friday is almost here! :D

Dumping my last Apple item (iPhone 5) and entering the android world.

I am also dumping my iPhone 5 and returning to Android after an 8 month absence. I originally went to iPhone because a) my whole family has them and I caved to the pressure; b) it DID make it nice to have everything on my iPad also available on my phone and not have to buy apps twice; c) my car has an adapter for an iPhone/iPod and my iPod was stolen, so I figured two birds/one stone and all. I haven't despised the iPhone as much as I thought, but I HAVE missed Android. Oddly, I prefer my iPad to the Samsung Galaxy Tab I used to have. You would have to pry my iPad out of my cold dead hands. But for phones, I think I'm just a dyed-in-the-wool Android girl. I am so eager to get this phone in my hands...I've grown to hate my iPhone since I pre-ordered on Friday, and now it can't get here quick enough!

I have. Often. As to which apps do it I don't know but the pleasure of 3 gb ram is I don't need to worry about it as often. I have a LOT of apps sync several email accounts and play games. I have a widget that turns red as ram is getting taxed. It happens once or twice a day and I do use the built in task manager to clear memory when it happens. I use gsam and no particular app is runaway, just lots of apps. The biggest offenders are the kernel and Google services.

Well the difference is if you wait long enough a phone with the specs of the "Galaxy S5 Prime" will turn up more or less. Might not even come from Samsung though. :p

No 32gb, stay with S4 32gb. Still fine device, so very fine with that option.

S4 is the first phone I do not feel a desire to bail from in a year, even if a S5 32gb were released by VZW.
