Who's using a cheap Ebay PS3 controller??

I've been researching the use of a PS3 controller on my Nexus 7, so I borrowed my brothers genuine Sony controller to try out, and it worked fine as expected (wired, no root) .
What I want to know is who has experience using a cheap Ebay Playstation 3 controller on their tablet? Either wired or not wired, and non-rooted? I don't want to spend $68AU on a proper controller, when I can get an ebay one for around $10AU.
The stuff that I've read, and the Youtube vids I've watched all use the proper Sony controller. I'm wondering if there's a reason for this.

Well not have experience in ebay.

I decided to fork out the $7.99AU for a non-wireless PS3 controller, so I'll see how it goes when it shows up.
I tried out a PS2 controller with an PS2 to USB adaptor that I have, but half of the buttons wouldn't work. Hopefully I have more luck with the cheap PS3 controller.
