why can't i flash a rom???

I am rooted and have a custom kernal. Right now i am running Entropys DD kernel. I made a nandroid. Then i tried to flash some roms ..they all said the following when trying to flash in cwm

finding update package.... opening update package... installing update ..installation aborted

i don't know what i am doing wrong. I've wiped everything before the flash so know its not that.

I am using a mac and i have to compress the files because the computer unzips them ...you think maybe that might be it?

figured it out if a mod wants to delete the thread go for it
