Help Why can't I get my s5 to update?

My phone is currently running 4.4.2, it's a Verizon S5 I am using on straight talk.

Whenever I try a software update, my phone will say it's up to date and doesn't have anything available.

When I got this phone I was told it was rooted, I honestly don't think it is though yet I'm not an expert. What's the best way to fix this problem and get my phone running on the most current version of android?

Well, it is easy to tell if it is truly had a Root done on it.

I have not heard if Straight Talk will provide updates.
Personally, you are FAR BETTER off the way it is with your phone staying on 4.4.2

Said root access granted. So I guess this phone is rooted then?

It would appear so, that app has always told me Not Rooted which I knew of course, but I like to keep up on "what is out there" for others to use.
