Help Why can't we get multiple SMS notifications on lock screen?

This really bothers me about my Note 4. I'm not sure if its an Android problem or a Samsung problem.

I have it setup to show Message previews on the lock screen. When I get a text message it shows the preview as expected. But as soon as I get another message it hides the preview and just shows me the total number of messages I've received.

I don't understand the logic behind this. If I want to see message previews I want to see them ALL not just the first one. (And even that first one disappears as soon as I get another message making the entire feature utterly useless)

On the iPhone for example you can scroll thru all your unread messages on the lock screen.

Is there any way to change this behavior?
If this is something you're interested in, download Textra SMS. It presents the messages just how you are requesting.

It doesn't bother me, if it says I have 2 emails I just open them up and have a look at them, doesn't take a lot of effort. Phil

I'll look at that but it is ridiculous that I have to buy an app for this.

BTW The problem is with Android notifications. It will only show one per app. I don't understand how this does not bother more people.

So if you get one email you will get to see who its from in your notifications. As soon as you get another email it will now just tell you you have 2 emails waiting without any idea who they are from. How exactly is that helpful?

Not only that but when there is a notification on the lock screen it will hide everything else like weather data and owner info. This is particularly problematic since Do Not Disturb mode will put up a permanent notification for as long as it is turned on.

Absolutely pathetic design.

I wouldn't like that. I get hundreds of texts and emails a day involving work. It would be terrible for me to have each message or email show individually. I'd have a mile long list of notifications on my screen.

Having said that, they could at least make it an option to turn on or off so people could choose.

BTW...you don't have to pay for textra. However you can get rid of ads for $0.99. It's a very nice app, you'll enjoy it.
