Help Why do I get new icons on app updates?

I have set the setting in the market to not put icons on the home screen for new apps but I still get them when apps update. Anyway to stop this? I don't think this happens on my galaxy nexus phone. When it happens it gets rid of one of my widgets where the icon is placed. Frustrating.

Go to Play Store then Settings and uncheck auto-add widgets. If you did this already than I honestly don't know. Double check that the setting stuck.

Thanks! I did this already. In fact new apps don't do this now. Only updates.
