Why does a contact have to be "linked" to Google..

..in order to be "linked" to Facebook?

And does anyone know what this even means/does? I have Google contact sync disabled so what's the deal?

It doesn't have to be that way. I know someone who uses the Facebook linking to the contacts that he synced via HTC Sync and Outlook (labeled as Phone not Google). He doesn't use the Google stuff at all

If you want your contacts to be backed up on Google then u should have that enabled

I don't want my contacts backed up on Google. What I mean is, if I go to contact and link their info to their Facebook, it automatically creates a link to Google. If I click to unlink the Google link, it also unlinks Facebook.
