Help Why does it speak "Droid" randomly?

Every once in awhile (once or twice a month or so), my phone speaks "Droid". It's very loud. Totally unexcepted & not what I want in a quiet meeting. I have the sound off or very low. When it happens, I look at my phone I don't see anything strange. It did NOT just reboot.

How can I stop this from happening?

or it could be that in you notifications settings something uses "droid' as the sound. Maybe one of your e-mail addresses that you don't use often?

"Droid" is the default notification sound for the phone. Go into your main settings menu, then Sound and you should see a item for Default Notification. If it says "Droid", you can change it to something else if you want. Also, next time it happens, pull down your notification bar and see what notifications you have as many apps have their own settings for notification ringtones. Then look at your notification ringtone settings in each app and you should see one of them that has "Droid" or "Default Ringtone" listed. If you change to a different ringtone, it's still going to make the new ringtone whenever you get a notification for that particular app though. If you don't want the sound to disturb a meeting, then you should just put your phone on silent or vibrate or go into Sounds in your main settings and adjust the Notification Volume setting to a lower level.

Just a total random thought (mentioned only because it happened to me) -- this is what my RAZR MAXX kept doing when the SD card was dying. The phone would be sitting there, minding its own business, and then -- for no apparent reason -- throw the "preparing SD card" notification at me. (And that's a notification that disappears as soon as it does its thing.) While I had selected different notification tones for everything my phone did on a regular basis, I had still the "Droid" one set as the default, and since "SD card notifications" were on (in the Sounds menu), it would shout "Droid" at me when it gave the notification.

Oh I see, it was a notification. That helps a lot. I usually have my phone set to silent but somehow the volume increased so that's why I heard the sound. Explains everything. Thanks to everybody. I really appreciate it.

Excellent post. I usually select "Silent" notification sound rather than set the volume low. Just a technique

That's great. I didn't know there was a "Silent" option. That works better, because sometimes my volume accidentally gets set to high.
