Help Why does Swype etc get super slow over time?

Swype becomes nearly unresponsive if the phone has been on a few days. Other things too but it is most noticeable with Swype. I get that this is probably due to so many apps leaving something running in the background and they eat up cycles. Is there a setting that can prevent this or is it best practice to just restart the phone more often? Sprint Galaxy S5. Thanks.

Instead of restarting the phone you could try clearing the app cache with an app like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.infolife.cache that gives you a one tap widget for your homescreen.
I've found it helps with things like a laggy keyboard on my older devices

EDIT just noticed you're on an s5 sorry.... Worth a try anyway
