Why Does The AT&T Android App Require Permission To Format SD Card?

MyWireless by AT&T on the market. It is an app which allows you to check data usage, minutes, pay online, change plans, etc.

I can think of two reasons for this. One is to give you (or me) to ability to do a remote wipe if the phone is lost or stolen. Second if for AT&T to do the same thing at their discretion.

that would be nice grounds for a law suit. Say if I had some important document stored on there using documents to go. or the video of my kids first home run in little league....

I can fully guarantee that if AT&T intends to ever, possible, remotely wipe someone's phone, the contract you sign gives them permission. There is no way the lawyers would let the standard contract out the door without such a provision.
