why doesn't the perfect reminder app exist

Lurker
I have downloaded several popular ones, for the love of Pete all I want is to remember a birthday and have the phone ring like a call on the day and time I set.

All task/reminder apps so far give a barely audible tweet and a half second bar notice that doesn't help when in my pocket, I can't hear it. in all the appverse does one exist that will do exactly what I want

I don't want to pick fifty optional ringtones for an Alert I want it to use the exact one and exact volume of an incoming call I've already chosen.

Ok Astrid is decent. Same weak alarm sound but at least it repeats.

Problem: it uses 17 megs in background. I'm on galaxy s2
After running lots of programs I like to go into active applications occasionally, especially when its a red alert, to free up ram space. I noticed it kills update ringers.

So that means if I have a reminder set for two months from now and if I ever hit clear active apps even once in two months to free up space all my reminders are ruined? See what I mean-there's always a catch as to why I'll miss an important reminder.

I put birthday reminders into my calendar as repeating events. Set my default calendar notification sound to be loud, and I use "Calendar Snooze" (one of the first apps I installed) to give me a snoozable repeating alarm.
