Why don't manufacturers use some sense and...

Here's the thing, if consumers really thought vanilla android was the bee's knees then vanilla android devices would be the ones selling the best. Clearly people like different interfaces. For example, I love Sense and everything it offers. There are people that don't. That is why we have choice. What I would LOVE is the choice to freely go between vanilla android and whatever the manufacturer and service provider give me. As has also been said, the crapware is likely kickbakcs or advertisement. Take Sprint, for example (I pick on them because I have personal experience, sorry Sprint). They preload all of their NASCAR and NFL BS that I have no interest in whatsoever. But I am sure it gets subscriptions, so it is worth it for them. Same thing with the blockbuster app. I am sure they threw a chunk of money at Sprint as a last ditch effort to get people to use their services.

I think the main problem is that the Nexus phones are usually half a generation behind when they are released. The Nexus S is released approximately 6 months after the Galaxy S, and they share pretty much the exact same specs. And now 6 months later we are seeing duo core phones.

But by people's logic here they don't care about the "rams and the gigs", they just want the device to work, and I know my rantings are not gonna make a difference, just like to point it out to people as there is a gap in the market for this kind of phone I reckon, with better and more free software than current manufacturers, if only I had some money and talent in making android ROM's...

Well, I suppose I am a hardware freak. I have a Desktop that can run Crysis at max settings with 8X AA (I can probably rack it up more if I want to, but I like my 3 digit fps too much at the moment), and a laptop that can run crysis at low settings.

if manufacturers use Cyanogenmod as default, there will still be someone challenge it n work around to sth else, creativity and desire of human is a huge boundary-less territory dat even outselves would not fully understand wt we truely want.
everyone of us has our own preferences, say i'm a newb for 2 weeks, juz changed from Palm OS(10yrs) WebOS(2months), I do hv tremendous ideas to make it my droid, but juz so many limitations so I'll juz get used to it instead, follow the trend n not to be left out.
Heard rumor saying future Android phone will unlock bootloader, which means paradise for someone like us whom hv time n resources to explore and exploit every inch of hardware + software.
when this day comes, I guess I will make my droid become PalmOS+WebOS wanna-be :D
