Help Why is Google Drive not syncing from my PC?

JohnJSal

Android Expert
I have Drive installed on my PC and I have made changes here before (deleting/moving files, etc.) and they have been reflected in the Drive app on my other devices. But right now I am doing it again and I am not seeing the changes on my tablet or phone. It's been a while and I've manually refreshed a few times.

I haven't changed any settings, but I also don't see any Drive settings to look into on my PC. What can I do to check if it has stopped syncing? What else could be the issue?

Thanks!

Yeah, I just noticed the same kind of problem. If you check your Settings >> Accounts >> Google is there a 'Sync error' message showing? Also, using a browser if you go to: https://status.cloud.google.com/ do you see any kind of error notifications?
Typically this kind of event gets fixed within a few hours, it's not surprising when something like this happens. Unless you've been having this problem for a while now I wouldn't get too anxious about it, knock on wood things will be back to normal by the morning.

No sync problems shown under Settings. It shows the last sync was about 20 minutes ago. I didn't notice anything wrong on that website either.

Hi,
In desktop,
Open chrome menu> scroll down to settings, click here.
If you see sign in notification, then sign in.

If you see " disconnect google account"
Click on this and sign in.
Next see advanced sync settings button
Click here and select sync everything.

Click on " google dashboard" button.
Scroll down to reset sync>Ok.
Click on " sign in to your chrome browser" button.
Click on sign in at top right and sign in.
Restart desktop.

Most of that is done already. But isn't this for syncing Chrome across devices? Does it have anything to do with Drive?

Google Drive is online storage tied to your Google account, it's use is not tied to the Chrome browser. Also, Chrome's sync feature is not dependent on Google Drive in any way. You can use Chrome to interact with Google Drive of course, or use whichever browser you prefer, it's your choice.
