Why is it changing to Vibrate mode on its own?

Hey guys, over the past few days I've noticed that my phone changing from ringer to vibrate mode on its own. Any idea why is it doing it?
Thanks.

Is that while you have it just sitting untouched? First thought is maybe your ring volume is set just one above silent so any accidental downpress of the volume key puts you into vibrate. Does the pulldown menu status change too?

Maybe it has something to do with the volume setting in general. Vibrate should logically be one up from zero, but I see it switches from vibrate to sound higher than that. And why does my headphone volume setting go back down to the midpoint when I unplug and later plug my headphone jack back into my car stereo? It's really annoying.

thats one thing I hate about these droid phones, if you tap the volume button on accident, it actually moves it on increment up or down, I do this constantly on the S3 because the vol rocker is opposite the lock button so when i have it in my hand and lock the phone, I hit the volume rocker which now changed the setting, sucks. I like on other phones like the iPhone that the fist press of the volume displays where you are in volume, then any touch after that will actually adjust it.

Is there an app to change the setting?

Yes, the phone may sit untouched and the sound toggle between vibrate and sound comes on its own. Or phone may be in the pocket locked and when I take it out and unlock it I see that instead of sound it is on Vibrate now.
Oh and no, the sound level is close to max, approximately 80% of the full bar.

I'm having the same problem too with a Galaxy Note 2. The phone changes to vibrate, mute and sound by itself, even when I just leave it on the table.

Yes I am also having the same issue with my Note 2. However its everytime I make a call I see that the mode switches from Vibration to Sound. Till sometime back it was reverse i.e. if my phone was on sound mode, as soon as I called, it changed to vibration as soon as I pressed the call button. Now its reverse - it changes to sound mode from vibration as soon as I press the call button.

Cheers!

The main reason ive seen for the s3 "forgetting" settings is from not doing a factory reset after updating to 4.1.1. Im not saying thats whats causing this but it could be and if u do factory reset, apart from bein a pain in the ass to do, it wont do any harm and will prevent or at least narrow down any future bugs
