Even though I have a good connection and my wifi is connected whenever I am home according to gsam my phone radio uses more battery than Wifi. I don't see why it uses any battery at all with wifi on. What's up with that?

The phone radio includes the radio used to make and receive calls (the 2G part), and that's on whether you have a wifi connection or not. If it goes off you can't get phone calls. Mine uses a little less than yours (12.5%), but that depends on the 2G signal strength you have.

phone radio .. the phone is listening for phone calls.. it needs to constantly check the phone towers for a call. the towers are far way, sometimes a mile or more away.

wifi radio.. the phone is checking and communicating with the wifi router in your house. which is less than 50 ft away.

which do you think needs more power to reach??????
