Why is the Facebook android app so bad?

I have had the FB app on my Toshiba Thrive a while, but it doesnt seem very good at ALL. When anyone posts a pic, half the pic shows and half is cut off. Its like that no matter which direction I hold my tablet. And it only goes so far down in the feed an sometimes wont show anymore. Isnit me or does everyone have these issues? I really would love to have a decent working FB app. :-(

I don't use the app myself - I have FB bookmarked in my browser - that way you get the full desktop experince :)

meldroc does friendcaster give you notifications like the fb app does? The past two updates have ruined the app on my phone, it's so slow and buggy!

Same here. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. i also have the latest version. It started about 2 versions ago. I have the 10" Samsung Galaxy Tablet

I removed the Facebook app and now just use the mobile web version through the browser. The functionality is the same with the added advantage that out doesn't have permission to my first born child.

don't you think it's because of your internet connection? coz it happens if you have a poor connection (for both uploading and downloading pics)

I often use the Facebook mobile site. The app is just plain awful. Useful for alerts and uploading photos and videos, but not much else. Don't really like Friendcaster. Fast is overrated. The other FB apps are basically browser shells.

Even Facebook admits that their mobile apps suck. Currently, they're working on a complete code redesign for the iPhone version. They are replacing the HTML5 that they currently use with iOS's native code. I assume a new Android app is forthcoming as well.

And considering that they've been buying companies that make good apps (i.e. Instagram), I'm sure that influence will rub off on them.

i've been using friendcaster for the last week or so now. it's a bit faster than the fb app, but i've noticed that i'm missing out on quite a few things. once in a while, i'll go into the fb app, and see several things that don't show up on the friendcaster app. thinking of uninstalling. it does have its pros though. i really like the layout and the customization that it offers, but what's the point of all that, if i'm missing half of the news feed?

^ In fb's privacy settings, you can hide information from 3rd party apps used by friends. So if any of your friends have things blocked, those things won't show up in Friendcaster.
