Why is the video recorder really dark?

Anyone notice that when they switch from the camera to the video recorder the lighting suddenly gets really dark? Is anyone else getting this? Or do I have a faulty phone?

Should have an exposure level to adjust- shouldn't it ?

Yeah it does. I don't know why but my camera went back to normal about a week ago (I was camping so I didn't get to post it until now, I just got home).I remembered I installed pudding camera and took a few pictures, then the next day the camera was back to normal. I don't know if the app had anything to do with the fix.
