Why is there Quickoffice when there is Google Docs?

[kathayes]

I just found out that Google owns Quickoffice. Why are they not calling it just google docs? Wasn't there already a way to use google docs on Android without quickoffice? What's the difference?

Google Docs can't save some ifle extensions that other office programs can. Why? I'm not 100% sure. I've found Google Docs is also occasionally lacking in formatting options.

If that's the case, I guess I'm just wondering why they didn't rename quickoffice google docs for android...I thought they were trying to heavily market The name google docs.

Google Docs is a dead name- its bundled into Drive now. It won't save, for example, *.docx files.

You can save a file in Google Docs in .docx, .odt, .rft, .pdf, .txt. .html, and .zip formats.

Kathayes; QuickOffice is supposed to work in conjunction with Google Docs. They more or less compliment one another.
