Help Why on earth I cannot update my xperia to the new version?

Hello there,



:confused:My Xperia x10i is still on baseband version 2.0.46, although there is already one or two new versions above, which support pinch and zoom. I have tried to update the phone with both Pc companion and SEUS, but both says that my phone is up to date and still, no pinch and zoom. what on earth is going on?:mad: I have 4Z to root it, but i really do not know how to do these things.

You posted this twice. Thought I would do the same:

Some service providers have not provided updates for 2.1 or later. Are you on AT&T or some other provider that has done this to you?

Basically....if you can't update through SEUS or PC Companion, then there aren't any updates.

Because your phone was once rooted, you could always reroot and install a newer version of Android either a stock version or a custom ROM (stock without some of the useless stuff, and sometimes added useful stuff)

I don't think Z4 will do it for you anymore....probably going to need a newer root app....like SuperOneClick or whatever it's called.

Check some other posts for how to flash for noobs or the posts on rooting using that SuperOneClick or whatever it is called.

Hi beau420,

Yes, I found my phone on that list (1232 4290, added on the 16.11.2010). I did look round for rooting the phone and everything else, but i think all that is beyond me. i do not know where to look for it. It is just sad, because it seems that the Xperia x10 should be receiving Gingerbread update (2.2 or 2.3) and i cannot do it on my phone. I am on Orange and i am in England.

I am lost, i do not know where to move from here.

thanks for your help, though. if you know of anything else to help me to get the upgrades, please, let me know.

There is no official release of Gingerbread on the Xperia.

I do not know when Orange will release the multitouch update.

Anyone else on here on Orange and have a stock X10 with multitouch?
 
I have the same issue. I contacted orange and they said it is not available on my device. I don't get the Orange/Tmobile signal either!!
 
Basically Sony hasn't upgraded to Gingerbread yet and haven't finished their testing. Once they ok it....then your cell provider has to approve it and allow it to be released to their customers.

Orange no longer sell this phone, so I would imagine that they will not update to multitouch let alone gingerbread. I flashed mine to generic UK with no problems and have all the latest updates.

hi paulus, have you tried reinstall seus n pc companion? i had the same problem, solved by reinstalling those. If it fails i think you should root your phone and do some reading from here. forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343. Wish u luck.
