hey

i just want to know what reasons are there to root other than to apply lagfix. im runnin JPK froyo firmware and i dont have serious lag issues so im wondering what other benifits can be had from rooting

the are a variety of things you can do to delve deeper into your phone such as mucking about with CPU speeds but tbh if you're happy with your phone as it is, and happy with applying the odd lagfix here and there i wouldnt worry too much about it.

Why Root?

Rooting gives you administrative control over your phone.

There's really 3 main reasons to root:

1. Overclocking/Underclocking (speed vs saving battery)

2. The ability to play with custom Roms

3. There's a BUNCH of Apps in the Android Market that will only let you install ONLY if you have Root Access

I installed JPK and liked it very much. Unfortunately I could not get email to work properly and had to revert back. Setup of email account to exchange works fine until I choose to delete all emails in the Trash folder and it caused FC on the email client ... so sad.
