Root Why root ?

+1 . Rooting is easy so I figured I'd just do it because it was doable. Now titanium is usable and also SQLite editor which enables the hotspot hack. Other adjustments as well that would not be possible otherwise. Was worth it to me. Happily rooted in Oregon.

FWIW Foxfi in the google play market turns on hotspot free of charge and without root.

Yeah, I think just about everybody knows that. If not rooted there are numerous options for tethering wirelessly or wired via USB.

Another plus is freezing the updater so no stealth midnight updates occur that one wakes up to. I didnt want ICS until it's on my terms, which reminds me, verizon sent me an email telling me my maxx is now up to date. LOL! And I should enjoy using the latest os. (I prefer GB, thanks anyway)

Being able to use titanium backup is a huge plus, but just my opinion as some could care less. Rom toolbox is another nice app for rooted phones. Tweaking files with SQLite, etc, etc can't be done otherwise.
