Root Why root?

OK so why should I root? I mean I rooted my Droid X and it was nice, but at this point with the Maxx, what benefits come from rooting? Thanks

What reason do you have for rooting?

I rooted mine to try different roms.

What do you want to do?

I have not rooted yet but I'm thinking about it just to get rid of all the ads in some of the apps I use.

I am rooted mainly because I go through phones a lot and Titanium Backup has saved me countless hours setting up my phones the way I want them. I also love TB to freeze bloatware. I love Adfree as well. I haven't flashed any roms. I prefer to stay stock.

Ok, I've been wondering the same question on to root or not and I'd like to have more control, but not sure I wanted to spend a lot of time trying to find good ROMS. So to clarify, the phone can be rooted, but still run the stock ROM and apps? Is anything lost by rooting? Sorry for the newb questions; I'm not afraid of rooting, just trying to learn more about it.

Thanks.

If your root and install safestrap 3.0.5 and immediately install a custom rom, everything from stock will be saved on the device and not touched. only part that the user can modify or delete are the custom rom partitions. only con to that is the loss of ota updates from motorola but when your on a custom rom, whats the worry?
