Why Won't Google Maps Display A Map?

My Aspera Jazz won't display maps on Google maps when I click the google maps icon.

It goes to a google maps page and says it is downloading maps but gets halfway there and reckons I should check the internet connection.

It never, ever, completes the job.

But meanwhile if I use Firefox and go to google maps from there everything runs perfectly.

How do I deal with this, is there a way?

have you tried to clear cache and data for google maps?

how do I do that? i googled and found a thread but what it said to do can't be done on my phone: it doesn't come up with the same options.... perhaps a version problem?

settings>apps>google maps>clear cache and data

I don't seem to get that option...

you can also reboot the phone. it clears out all of the cache on your phone.....might help

curious what options do you get?

It's down to 1% and I've got it plugged in and recharging but it won't switch on and let me look at things. If I remember right i go settings/apps and get a list of apps. when i click on an app I just get the options to disable or force stop...
