Wi-Fi Deep Sleep?

Hello everyone.

Recently I switched on the Wi-Fi for couple of hours and forgot to switch it off while the phone is in deep sleep. After checking the battery usage it seems the Wi-Fi is running while the phone is not awake or having screen on.

Question is, does this scenario means the phone is still connected to Wi-Fi at the same time receiving signals or radio waves while in deep sleep?

Thanks!

Hello and welcome to Android Forums ca0221! :)

In answer to your question regarding Wi-Fi on or off during sleep... It depends on what you have set it to in...

Settings > Wi-Fi > Menu > Advanced > Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep > Always/Only when plugged in/Never

Thank you ironass for your greetings :)

As your suggestion, I don't see that option in my phone. Currently I'm on 2.3.6. I guess that's for ICS?

There is a similar menu in Gingerbread, under Wi-Fi as far as I remember. Menu = the bottom left hand soft key, or, Menu key as it is known.

EDIT Rats! Just noticed that you have the, "G", variant... so all bets are off.

Does anyone know how, or if you can, adjust the Wi-Fi Sleep policy on the GT-i9100G variant?

It's alright with the G variant I guess. You are right about the menu, I managed to find the Wi-Fi sleep policy under Wi-Fi settings with the left hand menu soft key. Maybe I need to explore further? ;)

Thank you ironass for your help :)
