Wi-Fi FIX!!! It works!

For anyone having problems with Wifi not obtaining ip address or not connecting since updating to froyo 2.2 or possibly even before 2.2 TRY THIS!!!!

  • First, You need to have a rooted phone

  • Make sure to turn off wifi in the settings

  • Then open Root explorer (or any app that can access root folders) and locate the file dhcp_list
(for those having trouble finding it, open the folder data, then misc, then dhcp)

  • And all you have to do is delete the file /data/misc/dhcp/dhcp_list.

  • After deleting the file turn wifi back on and make sure to delete(forget) any existing connections you were trying to connect to before.

It will force android to create a new file which solves all the wifi problems. I guess during updating to 2.2 the file gets corrupted somehow and causes a bug

I tried everything intill this it worked right away didnt even need to reset the phone

could any one tell me what the ac adaptor is and what it does please
What a random place to ask this.
The AC adaptor is the charger for the phone. Plug one end into the mains outlet and the other into your phone

This might be more of a hassel than turning it off.

I still have the problem with 2.2, but there are two things I do.

1) Reboot the phone. I turn it off, and back on and it can connect again.

2) Recently I discovered there's something wrong with the notification bar wifi toggle (and to an extent, power control widget is even worse). If you have a problem connecting, open up your phone Settings > Wireless and network > Wi-Fi Settings and under the Wi-Fi option you'll see the word 'Error'. When I click on it again on this screen, it seems to manage to correct the error and obtain an ipaddress.

No need to run around deleting stuff for no reason.
