Help Wi-Fi passwords missing

All of a sudden my hone seems to have lost its Wi-Fi passwords?
All I know is I have had several android phones, and the passwords had seemed to be saved in the cloud, and were always with each new phone.
Now, all of a sudden, 8 months after new phone, when go to hookup in places i had known the Wi-Fi , it no longer has the Wi-Fi code, any ideas to get from the cloud again if that is possible?

Other than it appearing to be a stock answer to most things?

Presumably because it forces a restore of saved Google data, although the danger is that if the passwords were missing before the most recent sync then they won't be backed up anymore.

I've never known login credentials to go missing by themselves e.g. without the network being "forgotten" on the device, so this one has me stumped.
