Help Wi-Fi will not connect

Cybrczch

Newbie
I am unable to connect my (rooted) Elite to wi-fi. I have tried at home (WEP) and at work (study participant's open network).
Settings -> wireless and networks: I check the box to turn on wi-fi, and about 5 to 10 seconds later it unchecks itself and turns off. I have it set to detect any networks and not seeing any in the brief time it is on.
Anyone out there have any ideas what I'm doing wrong, or what I need to look at?

Tried some of the wi-fi diagnostic/repair programs, none were any help.

Now that I think of it, I don't think I tested the wi-fi before working on my phone. It may have been hosed since I bought it.

Might have to return this and get a new phone...

Update:

Performed a factory reset. After reset, was able to connect to Wi-fi. So it was something *I* did...
Reinstalled SuperUser and titanium backup - apparently I still have root. YAY

I recently purchased LG Optimus Elite. When i brought it home, i tried to connect it to my wifi like i do with all my telecommunication devices. It wouldn't connect. I tried my building WiFi, and it didnt connect. I tried the open connection I have at my job and it connected. I called virgin mobile and told then the problem and they sent me a brand new Lg Optimus Elite (In sealed box and all). I tried to connect to my wifi and it didn't work either.

What i am constantly getting with this model of phone is "Connection Loop". It will go to connecting and then disconnecting and it will keep going on like this.

Yes, i have tried turning the phone on and off. I have factory reset the phone over 5 times and then i have used my MSL to reset the entire phone and data plan 3 times. After that didn't work, I have rooted my phone and did the same exact thing i did to the phone previously.

What i am doing now is trying to connect them both, one that is rooted and one that is not. I have the MSL for both.

I called VM and they have no clue to what is happening. I called LG and they said they would get back to me.

The only thing that i can thing that is causing this is the wireless modem that i am using. I am currently using a wireless modem from CLEAR. They use WiMax for connectivity. I have tried every possible combination of password and encryption type (eg. WPA/WPA2 PSK, WPA/WPA2 TKIP, WEP, etc.) as well as leaving it open.

Still no go, what should i do?

Sounds like your phone and modem don't like each other. Make sure modem doesn't have any type of mac filtering turned on for wireless devices

Nope, there is no filtering for mac address. I even thought it might be the firewall for the CLEAR wireless modem itself, but that hasn't solved anything as of yet.
