Help Wi-go help needed!

Hi I have a problem with the wifi on my N7 and was wondering if anyone could help me out.

I have been staying in a hotel for three nights. When I arrived I was given a login and password for the free wifi. I logged in and it worked fine for the first few days. Today however the wifi bars are grey with a triangle inside them and even though the network I have been on says 'Connected' I can't access the Internet at all. I am currently connected to that same network through an iPod so I'm guessing the problem is with the Nexus.

I looked at some other forums that suggested modifying the network by selecting static ip and changing dns2 to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 but the bars remained grey instead of blue.

I have no other applications running that would cause interference.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Make sure you have also filled in a valid IP address and gateway IP address. Its often the first 3 numbers in your IP address with a 1 after the 3rd period. However since this is a hotel network, it can be different depending on how the administrator set it up. Apparently the N7 is having a hard time getting that information from the network's DHCP server. Not sure why, since I've never ever seen that problem before on any device. And the fact that the iPod works proves its not entirely a network issue.

If its possible, since I'm not so sure on iDevices, lookup the information on your iPod, since apparently the info it has is valid. Use the same info. Except just change the last number of the iPod's IP address to something different for the N7.

Well hey, there you go. You just select the wifi network options in the iPod settings menu.

Also, router = gateway. Its the same thing, just different wording. And Android apparently uses CIDR notation for the subnet mask (called network prefix length in Android). To make it easy on you, since its so common, if the iPod shows 255.255.255.0 then on Android put in 24. Android may figure this out on its own as well.

I had something similar happen at a motel once and had the motel check with the isp. They had to reset. I had a good connection to the router, but the router was not making the internet connection.
