Help Widespread Android Security Hole

What is going to be done about the recently (web) reported Android MMS threat? Articles on the net indicate that Google already has produced a patch, but the manufactures and then the carriers have to release the patch(es). Do the manufacturers and carriers delays in releasing the patch needlessly expose customers' phones to this malware?

Remember the recent report where everyone running anything before KitKat was vulnerable through WebView, and updates were never going to happen? Except you could avoid the problem by using Chrome or Firefox?

Turn off automatic MMS download, don't accept unknown videos.
