OK- i know this is probably a long shot but i was hoping someone out there could identify this calendar widget. I reset my phone and it never reloaded. i searched my library on both the playstore and amazon but couldn't find it. i then searched all widgets and still couldn't find it! if not, any recommendations for a calendar widget that then opens google calendar directly? thanks in advance!

You mean when you long press the home screen and it brings up the widgets? No calendar ones there? What does that one do if you tap/open it? Is there a menu, name or way to get to settings - it may give a clue there?

that's a screenshot from before i reset the phone. after reset the widget did not re install. i've searched my library and other calendar widgets but cannot find it.

Are you sure that screen shot was actually showing a calendar widget? It looks like it could be from a weather widget or maybe even a time widget.

The calendar widget is below that.

The trouble is, it's very generic. The most distinctive thing about it is that it uses the 3 dot menu rather than a little gear icon for the settings. I've used a lot of calendar apps over the years, and still have several installed on my phone (I'm not short of space, and each of them does something better than the others), and while I don't think that's any of those I currently have installed it looks familiar enough that it might be one I've used before - but as noted, it is quite a generic calendar widget.

As for the final question, what do you mean by "opens Google calendar directly"? Do you mean specifically opens the Google calendar app, or opens the app that provides the widget? There are some apps out there that are just widgets, and so you can tell them which calendar app to open when you click on them, and there are others where the calendar app provides the widget, which obviously tend to open their own app.

thanks guys- i know it's a long shot- appreciate everyone taking a stab at it. Hadron - yes, looking for a calendar widget that when i touch the widget it opens the google calendar and not its own calendar. right now i'm using smooth calendar but would prefer the original one- just a better layout for my needs.

The irony is that I have used a number of apps like that in the past (things which just show a calendar widget and let you choose which calendar app to open with) but I've not used one for a number of years and struggle to remember any of them. But a search in the Play Store for "Calendar Widget" brought up this list. Some of those are actual calendar apps (e.g. Google put their own app on the top row), but quite a lot of them are just widgets, which can then be set to open your preferred app. Unfortunately I actually dislike the Google calendar app, so am generally happy to use other calendar apps and their widgets and so don't have any particular recommendations: as they all do much the same thing it's a matter of finding one you like the look of.

But your "library" in the Play Store should include the list of all apps you've ever installed - mine includes apps that have been withdrawn from the Play Store (of course you can't reinstall those, but they are still listed). You can edit this list, but only from the phone and it's enough of a hassle that you'd know if you had. So it's a bit strange you can't find it there.

thanks again - yeah i was surprised it's not in my library. i went thru it very diligently, numerous times. i then looked on my amazon app store thinking maybe i got it there. no luck in either location. perhaps the app has been discontinued? but it should still show on my library i would think. i'll check out the link you provided. thank you again!

Hadron - i just went thru your list you linked-- while i didn't find the original one, i did find one that i like much better than the smooth calendar i started using. i must have tried a dozen in the last 24 hours! thanks again for your help. this one - simple calendar by j4velin seems to do exactly what i want and has a nice interface!

Yeah, my library contains apps that are no longer available in the Play Store. And this isn't the sort of app that Google are likely to have deleted from the store themselves (those are usually games that infringe copyright or malware apps, which tend to disguise themselves as "beauty camera filters" these days, though dodgy flashlights remain a hardy perennial).
