Help Widget problem - invisible?

Weird widget problem. I've always used a BattStatt pro widget on one of my home screens. I had one on my maxx since day 1. Last night I thought I'd experiment with a different size, so I deleted the widget, and added the new size. Nothing happened, or so I thought at first. What really happened, is that I put an invisible widget on my home screen. I had to long press where it was supposed to be, and slide it to the trash before I could add another widget in the same place. The only time is was sort-of visible, was right before it went into the trash, the it appeared as a red rectangle. So something was really there, but not the widget. I restarted the phone, and I got it to work correctly once, and then same problem. Tried uninstalling, re-installing, clearing data, etc. Nothing.

Another issue that could be related - but not sure - twice I've gotten a force close Application Home Screen error message.

I downloaded a different battery widget, but thought this behavior was very strange. I don't think it's a bad app, because I've used it on a wide range of handsets with no problem.

Hi JK,

I have a ton of widgets and I have noticed this problem too. What I have found is if I just leave the phone sit for a few minutes the widget shows up, it's like it takes forever to load.

I've also noticed my widgets won't load right on a reboot when plugged into the charger at my work desk. I'm thinking the phone thinks it is plugged into a computer and blocks access to the internal memory not allowing for the widgets to load. After several reboots, I pulled the charger off the phone and all rebooted just fine.

In ES File Explorer, there is a an internal "SDCARD" and there is the external SD card folder. The internal folder is getting locked out. This may also be the cause of the missing widgets, maybe the phone is looking for the widget settings on the wrong SD Card.

Before the update, i also noticed my Beautiful Widgets clock/weather widgets weren't updating but it hasn't happened since.

Just my guess but wanted to let you know you aren't the only one.

Ahhhh.... I wonder if this could be what's causing my ringtones to occasionally reset themselves. I moved them all to the internal storage from the sd card, thinking that would help, but maybe that's worse. Should I have left them on the sd card? I typically restart my phone when it's connected to a charger... and so maybe access to my folders on the internal storage is blocked for a moment, forcing the phone to pick a system ringtone or notification.

I'll try re-adding the widget and see if it shows up eventually. Actually, the experience gave me the idea that invisible widgets could be cool. I added an invisible screen lock button to my main screen. Kinda nice!

After reading your post I decided to check to see what was stored on my external SD card thinking what might be on there isn't what's loading. Surprisingly nothing is stored on the external card other than what I put on there, all of the app data is going to the "internal" SD card.

So my uneducated and unscientific guess is that maybe when charging, the apps are looking for data on "internal" SD card but it's blocked because it thinks it's plugged into a computer or the app is confused and looking for the info on the external SD card.

Someone more techy than me could probably really figure this out, I'm just guessing based on my experience and observations.

I have constant issues with the Slacker Radio widget, none of the others though. It will either disappear or it will say on screen Problem Loading Widget.

I have noticed to that after the last update my Battery Left widget gives incorrect time with 100% calibration. It will say 12 hours with fully charged battery. It will get down till it says like 30 minutes left but phone will still have like 50-60% charge.

Haha.... Last night I tried again to load BattStatt widget, but it was still invisible. I basically forgot about it for a couple of hours, and no change. However, the widget was there when I woke up this morning! Crazy.

JK,

Do you have a lot of widgets on your homescreens? Including the 3 I have on my lockscreen with WidgetLocker, I have 21 widgets!

I will try to take some screen shots tonight and post.

No, I only have 7 widgets right now. I have a couple of screens that mostly just have app shortcuts on them. Wow! 31 is a LOT of Widgets. I would love to see screen shots!
