Help widgetlocker and stock sms app?

i just started using widgetlocker and i love it, the only thing missing is when using the stock sms app before when i would get a text message the message would should up on stock lock screen, or it would show x unread messages. now with widget locker it no longer does that. is there any way to fix this? or something i can download that would do something similar? please help!!

Download Handcent from the market. I still use the stock messaging app for general messages (You might like handcent for everything though, has an iphone like interface), but you can quick reply when the phone is locked...super convenient!

i may have to give that a shot, but its not exactly what im looking for. i dont want to be able to quick reply from the long screen.. just be able to see the message or how many unread messages, like our stock lock screen used to do. thanks tho.

You can set it to just show the unread message count in the status bar notification (I just checked). You can also disable quick reply. Handcent is RIDICULOUSLY customizable.
