WidgetLocker questions

Clementine_3

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm looking for a PIN lock screen solution and tried a few free screen lock apps that don't do what I want. I'm happy to buy WidgetLocker if it will work the way I need it to but don't want to plunk $3 down for no reason (my sister is really the one looking and she is less likely to pay unless it really works).

It has to be able to bypass the PIN lock and make a call when ICE is used (Sera-Apps) or at least bypass the PIN lock for the dialer so a call can be made.
It cannot bypass the PIN lock when 'home' is pressed, or for any other reason.

This is what I'm looking for:
PIN lock phone
Launch ICE, place call OR
Just place call
Never have to enter PIN for either action, phone remains locked (and hitting 'home' does not bypass that).

Moto X, KitKat, not rooted if it matters :)

Can WidgetLocker do that? Is there another app that can?

Ok, it certainly works as you'd want it to on my Sony running 4.3.

You add the contact in the ICE app, set up WidgetLocker, add the ICE Widget, lock the screen, hit the ICE Widget, then hit contacts and it will display your list of ICE Contacts and their numbers.

You can call/view the number or access any of the other ICE functions without needing a PIN. Trying to do anything else outwith the app ICE prompts you for a PIN.

Why not just have Widgetlocker active always? You can have Widgetlocker even when you have a pin protected phone. I do that. Just setup WL, and your PIN, and you're good to go. No need for Tasker.

Yep.

Clementine, when were you looking to set up the PIN? When you're away from home etc?

I hardly ever lock my phone, I work from home so there is not really a need to. I do lock it when I'm out and about, so that's when I'll have WL kick in and display/only allow my ICE app. If the phone is lost or something happens then a few contacts can be accessed/called but nothing more.

My sister in another story, she works in home care so could leave her phone anywhere! Not sure how to best set her up really, still pondering that but at least WL is a start. She likes the idea of security but can't be bothered with it.

I actually probably won't use Tasker, I seem to be reading that it bypasses PIN lock on a re-boot.

I used to use an app called Unlock with WiFi - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.benhirashima.unlockwithwifitrial

Disabled the PIN lock when I was connected to my home wireless network.

Now I have Tasker/secure settings remove the PIN requirement when my handset is in range of my SW2.

Don't bother with PIN security on my device as I only PIN lock the apps I care about using Perfect App Protector. It has the ability to unlock when I connect to my home Wi-Fi built-in.
