Help Widgets displayed in black box?? Help please!

Hey guys new to the forum.

I have a question about widgets. I dont really use them ever, but I found one for an app I use daily so I figured I would install it. That's when I noticed... Every widget on my phone, when activated, shows up on the home screen inside of a resizable black box that can also be closed. I would really like my widgets to display embedded into my home screen and not surrounded by a big bulky black box.

Also, when I go into any app after the widget is activated the widget and the black box actually float over the opened app making the widget even more annoying. Does anyone know what causes this? Is there a fix to this problem? I am attaching screen shots of what I'm talking about below.

I've been looking all over trying to find an answer for you. Are you sure this is not being caused by a 3rd party app? Some type of floating apps/widgets application?

I've literally exhausted every search possibility I could muster and have found nothing about stock functionality that behaves this way.

Can you do me a favor and boot into safe mode and let me know how the widget behavior is? This will help eliminate the possibility of 3rd party apps.

Also, are you using the stock launcher or an alternative launcher?

Thanks so much for trying.

I booted in safemode, no difference.

I have no idea what you mean by launcher, so I'm guessing I'm using the stock one :P

If there is any other info I can give to help find the problem let me know.

Haha. Most likely then. The launcher is basically your user interface. For example HTC has sense, Samsung has touchwhiz, nexus uses google experience launcher.

Not sure what sony calls theirs. Anyway. There are many 3rd party launchers such as nova, apex, go launcher, smart launcher, etc...

I'll dig some more tomorrow but I'm having a hard time finding anything about this. Wish I could look through your settings.

I thought it might have something to do with the small apps feature, which you can also use widgets with, but after more research I don't think that's it...

Ate their any widget settings in your menu somewhere? Maybe there's some floating widget type of option that can be unchecked.

So ive actually found the problem.

I was trying to add the widget through the small apps screen instead of holding down on the home screen and adding the widget that way. Thanks for the help though I'm very happy to get this fixed!

Ha. So it was related to small apps. I thought that at first because the small apps float on top of other apps but I couldn't find any pictures of widgets ran as small apps.

Anyway. Awesome. Glad it's sorted!
