Does anyone know how to create widgets, like the clock????? ...






...just kidding!

While browsing the new framework stuff in cupcake, I came across this:

"Support third party updates of system applications. New menu options in Settings->ManageApplications to list updated system applications."

Would anyone be interested in starting an open source project with me to update the Launcher application to open the widgets for everyone? Seems fairly straight forward to me to either use the manifest or register with intents.

I'm not entirely sure if "Widget" is the official term, but they are the objects you can place on the Android desktop by long pressing and selecting from the Widget category in the launcher. The clock is on by default if I remember correctly.
