Widgets!!!!

[samroberts1981]

I really need help with this...

I have a tablet running on android 2.1

x6d I think...

Basically it was pretty cheap but I love it.

The one thing I really miss is the ability to put widgets on the screen like I can with my phone.

I know how to add them normally...

I've tried adding them in the normal way and yes, there's plenty of space...

The only thing that comes up is the option to add the google search widget. I can add shortcuts no problem but no widgets.

It's infuriating...

I think the tablet is rooted as I can access all the files while on the tablet - I cant if I plug it into the comp - it only shows the nand files.

Basically I'm at my wits end on this...

I have no idea and all the help I keep finding is uninstall updates to google maps (done), make sure there's enough space (done), press and hold the screen and wait for the menu to pop up to add widgets (of course, as that's how you add them and I know that already!!!!)

So yeah, getting really frustrated as I'm lost on what to do and there doesn't seem to be an answer out there...

Please prove me wrong...

If you go to the market and download a widget like Text 'o' Clock | Elegant Look - Android app on AppBrain and then you longpress the homescreen and select widgets, the new widget is not available? Have you tried using a different launcher like ADW or Launcher Pro?
