I have a galaxy s3 through verizon, and evertime i try connecting to the wifi it says saved secured and keeps trying but will not connect

Sounds as if you've connected to a wifi signal with that name before, but it had different security. Long-press that connection and "forget" it. Then it'll be connecting to a "new" connection and you can set it up with the proper security. (You will have to know the password for that wifi signal - if you don't, you can't use it.)
