Wifi and 4g at same time

Today is day 3 with my s5 and while home i just noticed that I'm on wifi but the 4g lte is also in use.

The first two days the 4g would gray out when on wifi.

If i turn off mobile data it will gray out but then i have to turn it back on when leaving the house. Any thoughts? On verizon here

Add'l note....it doesn't seem to be using the 4g while on wifi, but its def. not grayed out.

If the WiFi is on and connected it is the preferred data route.

If you do NOT see the up/dn arrows flickering on the 4G indicator, it is not being used.

Thanks but why was it gray'ed out the first few days in the same situation?

Mine is always greyed out when the WiFi is ON.

It was the caller ID app using 4G the whole time. I turned that off and 4G is now grayed out again.

Ah! That makes sense. I am not using Caller ID, I'm adverse to paying Verizon $2.99 a month for something I don't need very often, if ever.
