Help Wifi and 4G icon's both present

Hey folks, I just got my Moto X on Wednesday (on the latest OTA, not rooted, yet) and I've noticed that when connected to Wifi my 4G icon stays present in the notification bar. I've done quite a bit of searching which lead me to disable the Caller Name ID app.

After disabling this one I'm still having the same issue. Can anyone confirm for me whether or not this is normal? If so, is there any way to alleviate this without having to disable data or anything each time I'm on Wifi?

I'm not worried about using data as I'm sure it's using Wifi. It just kinda drives me crazy and I'd like to have my notification bar a little less cluttered.

On my Maxx when connected to WiFi the 4G logo is gray instead of blue and the signal strength is all gray.

I run with Nova Launcher Prime and it is one of the greatest finds this year. It has an option where you can toggle the notification bar off entirely.

That's exactly what mine is doing. So far it seems to be normal from what I'm reading. I'll have to find that setting in Nova and see how I like it. Thanks for the tip!

Yes it is normal. No you are not charged data.

The thing that sold me on Nova was that you can rotate the home screen.

I know I'm not using mobile data. I was just wondering if there was a way to make the 4G icon hide while I'm connected to Wifi.

It seems like my answer is no. I'll just have to put up with it for the time being.

I do like 4.4 though. Looks good on the Moto X

While I appreciate your keen perception of the logo's preferences, I have to wonder how you came to the conclusion that your non-blue logo suddenly prefers the romantic company of other non-blue logos?

I think the 4G logo stays on your screen to show you that you are still connected to 4G...even though its not using it. For example, if you turn off 4G, then connect to WI-FI you wont be able to get an MMS. So lets say, you turn on WI-FI and the 4G logo disappears. You won't know if you remembered to keep 4G on (for things that require 4G to work when it needs it).

It stays visible because its letting you know that even though its not being used for data, its still on for when it needs to work for certain tasks. Does that make sense? I think its important that it still shows even when the wifi is on.

Bottom line though...you guys are the most nick picky people ever.

You'll get no argument from me on that last point. I am very nit picky but I LOVE this phone. Favorite phone I've had to date.

I guess the reason it bugs me is because every other phone I've had would hide my data connection icon when connected to wifi (I never turn data off) and I've just gotten used to it that way.

No big deal. I was hoping there was something I was missing that would allow me to hid it (apart from turning data off).
