WIFI app

Hello,

so basically I have 2 routers in my house, because only one does not cover the entire place. Now the phone switches from one to the other automatically when it looses the signal. Is there an app which would switch between the routers based on the strength of the connection?

Thanks,

There could be, but it would take about the entire power of an Android phone to run it. (It's called a voting system.)

The easiest solution is to turn one of the routers into a repeater. DD-WRT can do that (free software - see their extensive site to see if one of your routers can use their software.) I think Tomato (yeah, funny name for a router firmware) can also do that.

Then the phone is still on the same network, no matter which router it's actually talking to. Makes it kind of transparent to you.

Actually, I have same problem. So I got TP-Link pocket router and keep it plugged in USB drive of my laptop (because that corner of the house does not give me enough signal) and I have set it up as a repeater.

This makes my life a lot easier while using portable devices (i.e. I do not face the problem that you have) and I save pretty good on energy, although routers do not suck that much up.

Having said that, TP-Link routers are not the best when it comes to playing around frequently. If you are of a mindset, set it up and leave it as it is, these are perfect, otherwise setting them up is kind of PITA.
