Help Wifi/Bluetooth conflict???

My wife and I both have a Droid X. We just recently purchased an Xlink device that allows us to connect our phones via Bluetooth to our regular home phones. Some of you may know about this device. Pretty nice.

Anyway, I've noticed a fatal flaw in this set up when it comes to Wifi and Bluetooth. It seems that if Bluetooth is enabled, the Wifi will not automatically connect to the remembered network. It will detect it and say over an over again that it's connecting and obtaining an IP address, but will never fully connect. If I turn Bluetooth off and try again, it works without effort. I can then turn the bluetooth back on and both work fine. But, when my phone goes into standby mode and I wake it back up, it can no longer connect to Wifi again.

I should point out that this occurs with just Bluetooth being enabled, it doesn't have to be connected to anything. Just having Bluetooth enabled causes the problem.

This happens the exact same way on both DroidX phones. My wife has Bluetooth in her car and so she had Bluetooth enabled long before we got the Xlink. So, she would sometimes complain that she wasn't connecting to the Wifi and was using up her 3G data. I never could figure out what the problem was. I'd mess with it until I got it to connect and leave it at that. But, when the Xlink came along and we both started having problems, I finally tracked down the issue. My wife previously had a Samsung Captivate and we never noticed this issue.

Anyone else having similar problems? Any resolutions? Right now, I've just been leaving Bluetooth off and wasting the money I spent on the Xlink. Any suggestions would be most welcome and appreciated!

Thanks!!!

I had the same trouble and then I downloaded WiFi Fixer and BlueTooth Fixer from the Market and my troubles went away. You have to be rooted to use BlueTooth Fixer. By the way the Xlink works wonderful but I have to turn it off before I go out to BlueTooth connect to my car and turn on the Xlink when I return. Hope this helps.

Hmmm...yeah, rather not have to root my phone in order to get base functions to work. Seems like something that should be included in a future platform update. It is nice to know that someone besides myself is seeing the same issue. At least I know it's not a problem with my setup (didn't know how it could be, but still).

The Xlink has been nice to have (when I use it). We've also had to cut it off and back on to get it to work sometimes when we enter the house before it will connect.

So, anyone else have the Wifi/Bluetooth issue and gotten it fixed without rooting the phone? Is this a known bug that Motorola has documented? I haven't run across it in my Googling on the subject.

Thanks!

I have been using the Netgear Universal WiFi Range Extender (WN3000RP) for a while with no problem. I use it to connect my Roku box for Netflix and my smartphone wifi....
I just installed the ReSound Unite TV Streamer(Bluetooth) which streams the sound directly to my hearing aids.
Both work fine individually, but when I connect the ReSound unit my devices I have connected to my Netgear device do not connect. If I disconnect the power to the ReSound device all work fine again.

I believe that the bluetooth signal from the Resound unit is interfering with my Netgear wifi.

Can anyone help resolve this.

Thanks in advance

Nothing worked, so I decided to try a High Tech solution....
I created a shield on the streamer using tin foil so that the signal was blocked all around except straight forward....
This allowed the streamer to communicate with my hearing aids, but was blocked from the extender....
Worked like a charm....
