Help WiFi Connections Problem on Specific Spot

rax369

Lurker
Hi there,

I'm having a rare WiFi connection problem when trying to get connected to an specific wireless router. On this router other devices like smartphones, and laptops can establish connection w/out problem. The issue is specific on my cell.

The same cell gets connected to any other WiFi spot I try to connect.

What I have tried so far?

* Deleting that SSID, then adding it againg to the wifi networks
* Powering off the phone, and removing that battery for around 15 min (have read it sweeps dns cache)
* Wireless router already rebooted

Have also tried to install some apps to locate the issue:

* Using "Fing" it helped to make some pings and traceroutes to some public sites (so is not a connectivity issue)
* Also tried "WiFi Fixer" didn't help @ all, actually it didn't find any problem

What apparently is happening is that URLs are not being resolved by the DNS servers (they are reachable already tried that) but not resolved.

My phone specs:
Model: SGS2 International (GT-i9100)
Android: 4.0.4

Any ideas on how to solve this annoying issue ???

Hello and welcome to Android Forums rax369! :)

I sympathise with you as I know from personal experience that Wi-Fi related problems can be a nightmare to resolve, if at all.

Judging from your post, you have explored most of the avenues that I would have suggested.

I see that you are presently on ICS, Android 4.0.4 and wonder if JB is available for your CSC code yet, (see #1.1 in the next link), as this could be helpful. If not, you could always flash JB to you phone as per the instructions in #1.7 of the Jelly Bean update - Dummies Guide.

Hi there,

Thanks ironass for your help. Actually I've even thought on flashing the phone, as a final attempt to find a solution for this annoying problem.

As you mentioned, I GUESS I've already tried every possible solution I found in the net, without any good result.

I'd hate to have to flash it (I mean just for this since it's just an AP the one problematic, unfortunately for me, is the one at work), and as it would be like formating a PC (aka "starting from scratch" lol), which I hate. :eviltongue:

But if none other solution is offered here @ the board, will have to implement that, as final solution.

When I started to use my phone, an android update was available and offered directly by my phone once I got connected to the net, nevertheless the latest JB is not offered, even through the latest KIES version. So I'll have to force the update.

Thanks again for your help, I highly appreciate the dummies guide linked in your post, which I'll definitely follow if I'll be forced to take that path.

Regards.-
