Help WiFi Doesn't Connect, Only Saved, Secured

After a month of this problem, apparently not all employees are properly traibed. Modem must be configured for wifi by the company supplying the service.Once this was done BINGO. Problem solved!
My pc was connected via yellow wire but all wifi devices, cell phones and tablets would only stay connected for a few minutes or would constantly say Saved Secured. I would forget network and rec9nnect, get log in errors , authentication errors argghhhhh!
Call you Internet company and ask them to configure your modem for wifi.

I'm having trouble connecting to my home WiFi. I input the password and it says 'Saved,Secured' but it doesn't connect. (See the attached image - https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_9xgFkNfm9vVjdzUnJxcjZHNWc/edit?usp=sharing)

I have no problem anywhere else, work, parents house etc. And I've tried everything obvious - reseting the router, even resesting the phone to factory settings.

Does anyone have any idea?

It's a long time since the original post but in case anyone is still trying to solve this problem, I was just able to fix on my own. I logged into my router (you need to have the IP address of your computer that is connected to the router) and you put that IP address into the browser bar of the internet. If you don't know what I'm talking about, just call your internet provider (comcast, time warner, etc.) and they will assist you. The user router name/password login page will come up which is usually "admin" and "password."

Go to the tab for wifi and then go to basic setup. All I did was change my security mode from WPA2-PSK (AES) to WPA/WPA2-PSK (TKIP/AES) then clicked "apply." Then back on my samsung phone I "forgot" my network (hold it down on the list and then click "forget"), then I scanned and found my network again, then I pressed on it and clicked "connect." It asked for my password, I put it in and lo and behold, it actually worked. This was after an hour and a half of rebooting, resetting, and jacking around with Chromecast which I was trying to connect. Hope this helps someone out there.

Sounds like a good solution denise. Just a couple of points, the default username and password differ between router versions and brands, and often times if it is leased from an ISP they will set a password when they set it up. As far as figuring out what IP address to type into your browser, you can open a command prompt by hitting start and choose run and type "cmd" into the dialog box. For win8+ just type "cmd" into the search box. A black text command box will open up. Type "ipconfig" and hit enter. A bunch of network configuration information will scroll by. Look for the "Default Gateway" and the series of numbers to the right of that is for your router, usually beginning with 192.168.

I had the same issue when trying to connect my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 to my Netgear WNR3500L v2 router. The tablet works fine with other routers and the Netgear router works fine with other wireless devices but they just did not work together.
I started out by disabling wireless security on the router but still no luck so in my case it didn't seem to be a problem with the authentication. I then manually tried all the different channels but still got "Saved, secured".

The solution for me was to replace the router firmware with the Tomato open source firmware.
After installing Tomato (and configuring the router) I was immediately able to connect my tablet and all other devices to the router.
Note that not all routers are supported by Tomato and DD-WRT and installing custom firmware may brick your router, but it may be worth a try if the alternative is to buy a new router.

Hi there, My mum's Galaxy S3 began having this issue a month ago.
Wifi connections say saved, secured, but don't actually connect.
It's a problem with the phone itself, because I've tested my S3, and my brother's S4 on the same network, all connecting fine. Also tested setting manual IP settings, no luck. Tested the phone on several other WiFi networks, no joy.
Tested the phone on open WiFi networks and Hotspots. It says Saved, but won't connect. Reset factory defaults, changed ROMs, Modems, Kernels, still the same issue. Turned off WiFi powersaving mode, still won't connect.

I'm thinking, perhaps somehow moisture's gotten into the phone, so I'll place it in a ziplock plastic bag with some dry rice and see if that helps..

If anyone can offer any useful suggestions, please let me know :)

I'm getting the same thing. Have an Asus RT-AC66U and just got a Galaxy Grand Prime (Android 5.1.1) to replace my S2. All the other wifi devices in house connect fine as does the S2. Took my Galaxy prime to work and McDonalds and connected there with no problem. Tried the usual Forgetting and reconnecting resetting phone, router, etc. It will not even connect if I make my router an open network. SSID shows up but after pressing connect, it never connects no does it give an error message. Just kind has the spinner and rescans for routers. Read through the previous posts and didn't see anything I haven't tried in some form. Any new ideas?

I just found out the answer to this problems for my devices. I was using two devices 1 samsung 10.1 and samsung S6, when the S6 was connected and i tried to connect the 10.1 note it just said "saved", however. when i disconnected the s6 and tried to connect the 10.1 it worked and now the S6 will not connect. So it looks like i can only connect one samsung device at a time.

Here is what fixed it on my Android/Cyanogen machine. It is related to Google Locations:
On the main screen, swipe down to select the Gear icon (Settings)
Select Wifi and make sure it is On
Select the 3 vertical dots on top right
Select Advanced
Turn OFF "Scanning Always Available"

This resolved the problem for me

Hi guys,

Just bumping an old thread, actually I already spent 2 days looking for a solution to this problem, I got 4 devices at home ( 1 PC and 3 androids ), my PC and the other 2 android devices can connect to my home router without any problem, but 1... i it is Lenovo a399 with 4.4.2 kitkat. and my router is Dlink DIR 614.

I found solution by below steps :

Login into router and go to SETUP tab > Wireless Setting > Manual Wireless Network Setup

&

1. Change router 802.11 mode to : 802.11 b/g/n - by default it was only set to b and g only.
2. Unchecked "Enable auto channel scan" and only set it to Channel 6. - by default it was set to Auto.
3. Change/Set Channel Width to 20/40Mhz
4. Chipher type change to : AES only - by default it was both TKIP & AES

and reboot.

In this case, the default setting is in my router ( DIR 614 ) and may different with other brand.

Good luck! ;)

Thanks

100% solved the problem for me. Everybody is quick to try and configure the router, it is NOT the router, it's the phone / device. (LG G3 for me) I remember switching this on the other day after seeing it in my WiFi options, and my phone wasn't connecting to my home network. I figured it was just an issue at home, considering my connection there is spotty anyway. Got to work and was having the same issue.

Sometimes I don't know why Android / these phones have issues, but I'm happy this was able to be solved

All of a sudden I too was not able to connect my Android Galaxy Note 3 to my home WiFi. Was able to for months before. Then I started getting Saved, Secure only. I went into my WiFi configuration and changed the Mode from 802.11 g/n to 802.11 b/g/n and now works fine. Here's how to do it;

Find the Gateway IP Address. I use a Windows desktop at home, so go to;
- Start
- Command
- ipconfig
- then locate in the listing the address for your Default Gateway. If it's a Comcast or most other cable router/modems you'll have to ignore the IPv6, IPv4, etc addresses you see and go to the web admin tool. Mine was 10.0.0.1 which is most local IP addresses for this.

Next put 10.0.0.1 into a web address bar and you should get a configuration login for a User and Password. It actually took me to an Xfinity login, part of the new Comcast upgrade I have.

Most logins are set to User: Admin, and Password: Password, but if you have already changed either of these, then you'll need to find them.

Once there, go to:
- Gateway, Connection, Wifi
- Then you should see some option to edit the Private WiFi Network found in the tool. The Edit option for mine was to the far right, an EDIT button.
- Here you can change plenty of item, and is where I changed from 802.11 g/n to b/g/n.

Save and then suggest "Forgetting" the network on your device and then Scan again and it should connect, or you may need to put the password in again, especially if you took this chance to change it from the Admin tool.

Hope this helps and works for you all

Just wanted to thank you!! My wife has an LG Incipio, same problem - WiFi just stopped working. I did the above and BAM, it works. Thanks again!!!!

My friend had the same problem. After trying all the resets on router and phone, nothing worked.
I turned out to be caused by MacAfee Virus protector. Turned it off - worked perfectly.
