WIFI ERROR! Help Please

Hello all,

I received my generic 'Android Internet TV Box' from China a couple of weeks ago. The ultimate goal was to set it up to wirelessly stream media from my home theatre box to the tv box. So hooked it up and setup the wifi interface no probs, anyways for whatever reason i reset the factory defaults and can no longer get wifi to work!

Anytime i go to activate the wifi interface i get WIFI ERROR.

Things i've tried
-more factory resets
-Statically setting the IP
-Asking the vendor for rom (NO JOY)
-Asking the vendor for help (they couldn't)
-Rooting the device and setting up wifi via cmd line

Physical ethernet works fine. Even setting the device as an AP works fine! Which leads me to believe that the WIFI antenna is fine.. the interface just wont come up

This thing is so generic i can only find limited information on the box itself:
Ive attached the hardware info shown on the device. I think the device has an ARM Cpu if that helps and looks to be based on a FROYO rom.

Any help getting WIFI back up (or the thing re-flashed if possible) would be greatly appreciated!!

Yup it's as generic as these generic things from southern China can get.

Take a reference design from whatever chipset manufacturer, get the Android source code, quickly throw together some sort of device, then send it out to the world.

Will a base ROM work on this thing? Cant find anything on the chip manufactuer website relating to Android.
