Help Wifi has stopped working on my S2

I own an S2 I9100 with 4.0.4 . The Wifi was working fine until today when it would not turn on the wifi at all.. When i click on the wifi icon, it goes to the "pale green" state indicating that its trying to turn the wifi on and then it goes back to disabled state. When i go to wifi through settings, i see that the message "turning wifi on... " is consistently shown and the wifi state is toggling between a disabled "off" state indicating that its trying to turn the wifi on and then it goes to the normal off state.. Any idea why this is suddenly happening?? Tried restarting phone... router.. et al. My other phone and laptop connect fine..
